Internship & Strategic Partnership Coordinator
University of MN Duluth
Duluth, Minnesota, United States
Lorena Lane first knew she wanted to be an advocate for career readiness as an undergraduate student employee at her college’s Career Center, when her own internship focused on analyzing internship capacity and development in her college’s region. Her first job out of college was in Employer Engagement at the University of MN Duluth’s (UMD) Career Center, starting just weeks before the COVID pandemic would turn the world of work upside down, and she knew there was no better place for her to be than supporting career development and helping connect students to opportunities. Lorena now serves in a role new to UMD’s Swenson College of Science & Engineering as an Internship & Strategic Partnership Coordinator, with the goal of creating a culture of internships and experiential learning in STEM disciplines. Lorena has experience developing partnerships with organizations locally, regionally, and nationally to create access to opportunities and prepare students to engage in high-impact practices that will help them be career ready. She is also a leader in the MN Colleges & Universities Career Services Association, helping to bring career-focused individuals together to collaborate and work on topics related to students, higher education, and employer partners. Lorena is also a proud Mexican-American, nature-enthusiast, extravert, and bookworm.
