Jimmy Huynh (he/him/his) is a first-generation Chinese-Vietnamese American who specializes in quantitative critical methods, data visualization, and business intelligence to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility goals within higher education. He received his Bachelors of Science at the University of Connecticut in Mathematics and Statistics and his Masters of Education at the University of Vermont in Higher Education and Student Affairs. As a lifelong learner and advocate, he is passionate about using data and technology to advance social justice and equity in higher education.
Throughout his career in higher education, he has worked in many functional areas within student affairs and academic affairs including residential life, career services, and institutional research and decision support. Currently, he serves as Associate Director of Business Intelligence at Boston University’s Center for Career Development.
Jimmy has experience within every facet of the data life cycle including but not limited to data collection, cleaning, data warehousing, data and statistical modeling, data analysis, visualization, and reporting. He has worked extensively with many higher education data sources including admissions/enrollment, retention/graduation, academic learning outcomes, first destination outcomes, IPEDS, and much more.
Aside from his professional work, Jimmy is an active member and leader within several local and regional organizations including his service as Vice President of Boston University’s Data Analyst Network, co-founder of the Boston Association for Institutional Research, and co-chair of the DEISJ committee for the Northeast Association for Institutional Research. He has also co-published research on quantitative critical methods in education and on the importance of faculty-student identity affinity within graduate programs.
