Marykate Conroy, MA Organizational Leadership (she/her/hers)

With over 13 years of expertise in higher education career development, Marykate began her career in recruiting and staffing before spearheading the creation of a career development office for a new business school. As a leader at UMBC's Career Center, she leverages her experience in experiential education, curriculum integration, faculty collaboration and adjunct teaching, career coaching, and impactful career programming to her work in leading a team of career professionals who liaison with all departments and programs to embed career readiness in the student experience. Her dedication to expanding access to career development and experiential learning ensures students have the tools to uncover their strengths and achieve their life goals.

At UMBC, Marykate oversees the Internships and Employment Team, fostering partnerships across schools and degree programs to support applied learning initiatives. She administers UMBC’s internship, cooperative education, and research practicum courses, and actively collaborates with faculty to enhance career readiness across disciplines. Marykate also teaches as an Adjunct Professor in Media and Communications, where she leads the Professional Communications course, equipping students with essential skills for the workforce.

With an entrepreneurial spirit, Marykate has launched two significant initiatives to broaden Career Center services. The UMBC Careers Unleashed Podcast provides career readiness resources for commuter students, while the UMBC Career Connectors program engages faculty and staff as an extension of the Career Center, fostering campus-wide support for students' career and community engagement.

Marykate holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership (MAOL) with a focus on Talent Development and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with a concentration in Finance. She is a certified Change Champion Facilitator through Franklin Covey and a graduate of the NACE Management Leadership Institute.
