Executive Director, Hiatt Career Center at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA
Jon has been at Brandeis since 2015, where he leads an award-winning staff of career professionals at the Hiatt Career Center. Hiatt's centralized undergraduate career center serves 3,600 undergraduates and over 40,000 alumni, engaging around 70% of the student body annually. Jon’s focus is on student-centered learning through counseling and psychoeducation, coupled with data-driven planning for programming and strategic goal setting.
In addition to his 15 years of work in career services, he writes and teaches about career development theory, data analytics, and learning outcome assessments, with scholarly work published in peer-reviewed and national association journals. He has focused on expanding the Chaos Theory of Careers as a career development model and framework with college students and on bridging the scholar-practitioner divide in career services.
Jon holds an M.Ed. in Counseling from DePaul University in Chicago, IL, with a concentration in community mental health and college student development. He is also a Certified Career Counselor (CCC), an MBTI facilitator, and a StrengthsQuest educator.
Jon has received several individual and team awards for his contributions, including the NCDA Exemplary Career Center Award in 2019, the NACE Career Services Excellence Award in 2020, and the NCDA Career Developments Article of the Year in 2019. He has been quoted in books and articles, including The Chronicle of Higher Education and U.S. News & World Report, was recently featured on the Career Services Leadership Podcast, and will be presenting this summer at the 2025 NACE Management Leadership Institute.
