Nadine Stecklein is the Associate Director of Employer Engagement and Internship Programs at Whitman College, a position she has held since August 2022. She earned her Master of Public Administration in Nonprofit Management from Walden University and her Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and the Individual from Whittier College. As a proud first-generation college graduate, Nadine is proud of her MexiRican heritage, and it enriches her work in higher education, with a strong commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion.
In her current role, Nadine oversees the Whitman Internship Grant, which provides support to over 100 students each year in securing funding for unpaid internships both domestically and internationally. She leads the strategic planning for the grant, ensuring its alignment with institutional priorities while fostering equitable access for first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students. Additionally, she implements and oversees micro-internships to expand opportunities for experiential learning.
Nadine has extensive experience in student life and engagement. Prior to her role at Whitman, she served as the Director of Student Life at Walla Walla Community College, where she facilitated professional development initiatives focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion for faculty, staff, and students.
